(Note: the villagers see themselves as good Christians but Knoth’s teachings are deluded and advocate murder and blood sacrifice. He announces that the child of Lynn and Blake is the antichrist (devil) and calls out his followers, the “Christians”, to find Lynn and kill her before the child is born. I think they have more sense than to go on a route that extreme though. After 10 playthroughs and reviewing all collectibles here’s my understanding of Outlast 2’s events and a synopsis of the story. I'm imagining a Resident Evil situation where the Umbrella Corporation's status kept growing every game until they were this impossible conglomerate whose influence was felt everywhere. I really hope Red Barrels doesn't feel the need to brute-force Murkoff into every Outlast game just so it has connections to the others. I'd say the majority of players didn't even find the note on their first playthrough - I think I read about it somewhere after I'd played through a couple of times. Overall, the connection was about as subtle as it could have been. So, they would have had to ruin some interpretations in a sequel at some point.

    OUTLAST 2 MURKOFF SERIES

I got over it because there's still a fair amount of actual plot details left up to interpretation and it seems the Murkoff connection to Temple Gate will be vital to the continued story of the series at least, that's the impression I got from the final comic. It made me feel the same way as you felt, for the most part. If you looked closer beyond the otherworldly events, the seams of the facade show, and I liked that. After getting the documents and noticing the radio tower, I thought it was well-implemented. My first playthrough I theorized Jessica was reincarnated as Lynn's lil antichrist, and I think that's what blake believes by the end. The Murkoff thing didnt influence my opinion on the story, I still loved it and it made sense. Okay this protagonist has more reason to feel guilty but still lmfao. James put his wife out of her misery, for her sake and for his own selfish needs. Blake realized the priest convinced him of a false story at a young age, and made him feel guilty for Jessica's death. Yes, the protagonist was influenced by the town to see strange things, but it's all about the protagonist's personal mental journey anyways, regardless if the real world events were fabricated.įor Blake and James, the main thing was discovering supressed memories and making peace wih them. To me, it's kinda like discovering the final twist in Silent Hill 2. I mean, everything in Blake's flashbacks still happened. I still loved the story after I discovered the canonical events.
